As surgery residents, we were dissatisfied with the quality of the available review resources. Textbooks offered strong topic-specific coverage but were bloated, bulky, and quickly became outdated. Review books were superficial and too often inaccurate. Other online programs were difficult to navigate, most required an individual access, and none were dedicated to general surgery. The most frustrating thing, however, was the overwhelming costs. We decided to create something better.

Hence, The Operative Review of Surgery (The O.R.) was born. The program officially launched in 2021-2022 and rapidly grew with over 700 review articles covering the entire field of surgery. As a founder transitioned into Acute Care Surgery fellowship and practice, greater attention was focused onto these topics and similar deficits in current review resources were seen. Subsequently, The Trauma ICU was developed to provide a platform dedicated to Acute Care Surgery.

These programs are being used throughout the US and countries all around the globe. Dozens of residents and physicians have contributed to make these programs a success. The countless words of encouragement and residents contacting us to let us know how the programs have helped them make it all worthwhile.
